How to launch a best-selling book.

Editing Star Wars. Very interesting post. The Force Awakens was a two editor collaboration (one was a fan and the other one hadn't seen the movies) and the way they worked is unexpected. A lot of authors are doing collaborations now so I'm interested in the process.

And, speaking of Star Wars, is Rey a Mary Sue? Yep, she is, but I think the better question is why Mary Sue characters (Ethan Hunt, James Bond, etc...) work better in movies than in books. I think we want a deeper connection to characters when we read, but are willing to ride along with a stereotype when immersed in visual spectacle.
